The Mission of the MGPA is to provide an enjoyable community parade for all.
We also provide scholarships and personal growth workshops for our applicants that participate in the Miss Mother Goose Pageant.
Below is a list of activities that the MGPA currently conducts annually.
PROGRAMS
Educational and Personal Growth
- Leadership/Scholarship Program for Young Women of San Diego County - The MGPA goal is not just to share knowledge, but to provide high school young women (grades 9th through 12th) with personal growth workshops. These young women volunteer their time throughout the year for many organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, MS Society, Relay for Life Cancer Walk, and many other events and organizations. Volunteerism instills values of community spirit, activism, compassion, confidence, and individualism into each young woman that we come in contact with.
Health and Wellness
- Elementary Schools Art Contest for Safety - The City of El Cajon's Fire Department encourages East County elementary schools to participate in the arts contests to depict Safety. The children design and color a picture that relates to a message topic on safety given by the ECFD (ie: Message: What do you do when there is smoke filling up your house? Picture: shows family crawling out of house below smoke line). This helps the children to start thinking of safety solutions when comforted. We receive a large number of art pieces and are judged by representatives of the ECFD. The winner and two runner-ups art projects are displayed at an EC Council Meeting during acknowledgement of winners on television, all receives certificates, winner receives a bicycle, and all ride in a fire truck in the MG Parade.
Community Enhancement
- Annual Mother Goose Parade - Understanding the value of unity, family bonding, and social togetherness that are designed for all ages, races and ethnicities, the MGPA organizes 12-months a year, the MG Parade, the largest of its kind west of the Mississippi. Rich in history, character and entertainment, the MGP has delighted children of all ages for over six decades. Scheduled every year on the "Sunday before Thanksgiving", the event heralds the beginning of the holiday season. This parade has something for all families. The MGPA works hard to ensure that our gift and educational signature event for the community will continue to thrill spectators.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
All proceeds benefit the MGPA:
- Royal Tea and Fashion Show - The MGPA Royal Tea and Fashion Show is a fundraiser to help put smiles on the kid's faces along parade row. We offer an opportunity to have participants display their Best Tea Set at the Royal Brunch. Each table is judged for the Best Dressed Table and winners receive a wonderful prize. Guests enjoy brunch while watching the most magnificent and unusual fashion show.
- Annual Golf Classic - The Golf Classic attracts business men and women who like to golf, network and have a heart to help raise funds for the community. This is one of the many golf tournaments scheduled in San Diego County that sells out. The golf tournament takes place at one of the many award winning golf courses in San Diego's East County.
We invite you to become a part of a dynamic, innovated and heartwarming organization.
