MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Patti Shryock
Parades play an integral part to the American culture, and the nation has spectacular parades that have become a part of celebrating the holidays. They are forerunners in celebrations signaling the beginning of the festivities.
The tradition of the Mother Goose Parade is to unite friends and families on a day which marks the beginning of the Christmas holiday season; understanding the value of unity, family bonding, and social togetherness that are designed for all ages, races, and ethnicities.
We are proud to boast that the Mother Goose Parade is the largest in San Diego County and the largest of its kind west of the Mississippi, so don't pass up the chance to catch the spectacles hitting the streets of El Cajon on this favorite family holiday event of the year on
Sunday, November 22, 2009!
This elaborate parade features colorful inventive floats, magnificent huge balloons, Shriners with their amazing miniature automobiles as they synchronize through parade row, musicians and bands that march smartly while sharing their musical talents, ethnic dance groups in spectacular costumes, antique fire trucks, eloquent equestrians and interacting outlaw groups, performing artists, organization groups, comical clowns, beautiful cars carrying VIP's, . . . and the list goes on and on!
This year we are proud to present our family-oriented theme,
"Story Book Friends" that will guarantee to bring smiles to children's faces.
As a tradition, the Mother Goose Parade will be the kick off to the holiday season and will be marked with great pomp and grandeur to give a good lift in the hearts of young and old. Even though we are living in the midst of an economic crunch, we take pride to bring the most entertaining parade to our spectators. And if you can not make it in person, we are now telecast on television throughout San Diego County.
So come join us on the
"Sunday before Thanksgiving" and tap into the holiday season with us as Santa proclaims "Ho! Ho! Ho!" from his sleigh at the end of the parade - this will start the time of holiday cheer!
